Says who? I just lit someone up a few days ago. And a few days before that I lit up someone else with one of my guildmates. It's more like guidlines than rules. You saying traders have to stick to the boring trading operation and not have any fun? Nah, I don't think so!

I don't know what I would classify myself as. Not exactly a privateer, or a trader.
Lighting someone up doesn't make you not a trader..

Haven't run actual trade fleets in years. Closed my plantation months ago. So if a couple of fishing fleets makes me a trader than everyone is a trader.

Again I don't think everyone or even most people can be shoved into the category "trader" or "pirate". For instance, I make the majority of my income from plundering and skirmishing, but I have more trade and fishing fleets than plunder fleets. I can't speak for Dez, but I do know he runs sotls and attacks me sometimes, so I wouldn't say he is a pure trader.
I admit that I run trading, but I still don't classify myself as a trader because that's not how I make most of my money.
PS. I'm mostly a fisherman. You can buy my products at almost every port
