Agreed. So. What should we go for? Merchants with lots of fleets and lots of gold? Or wannabe pirate-hunters, with valuable ships we can steal?

Mainly I need the gold those days, but credits from sales are always welcome!

You are probably right. If the threat of stealing their ships makes them carry heavy purses, we'll just take their gold. If they try saving gold by running low purses, we go after their ships instead. As usual, really.

And this dilemma is why it is imperative that the max plunder cap is not lowered. That would be disastrous to pirates. It would stop the very few plunderers left in the game, I fear. In my opinion, the max plunder cap should be removed completely. No max cap. If you run a 50M gc purse, you run the risk of losing a lot of gold. That's how it should be, in my opinion.

Exactly! Do you know how many times you need to attack a player with a 50M purse and howker tails before you start stealing ships from him?

More like 350, I believe. Due to the max plunder cap and the very low plunder once his purse gets to around 1M gc.
