I retracted that statement as it was inappropriate. And yes I'm agitated. Angry actually. Not at you, not at anyone, but the people who commit all these horrible crimes. I just want to personally kill them. Not with a gun, but a slow and painfull death. And yes, you're right, it wasn't the appropriate time and place to bring up gun laws. But it was already too late when I realised my mistake, so I went with it. And yes you can call me a jackass, or a cheap opportunist, as it was too late for me to retract my first statement in this topic.

Anyway, I'm sorry. Won't happen again, but I will visit the gun control topic, as I'm interested in what everyone has to say about it.

If you really think about it long and hard enough, you'll find it's not common sense at all

Advocates do not refuse reasonable gun control, they refuse gun prohibition.

I am sorry but the amount of guns and the ease of acquiring one is insane. Not to mention automated weapons or the ability to amass an armory based on a permit. When you own 36 guns and more than half of them are assault guns and sniper caliber, then something is wrong

Some people just enjoy shooting these kinds of weapons. Taking guns from people who aren't going to use them for malicious ways is wrong and won't stop criminals from killing people.

There is nothing wrong with that, so long as the individual in questions did so legally, and does not use them for any nefarious purposes. There are youtubers who are big gun enthusiasts who like to show off shooting guns, and while I don't watch them often, I do occasionally watch the gun video now and then, like one man showing what happens when you shoot a block of lead with guns. I would much rather have people like that own an armory, then those guns get bought by an actual lunatic who would shoot up a place.

Again, 90% of all firearm related issues do not involve those who hold a valid license. They are created by those who do not hold one. Acquiring guns is easy without a license.

Legally and as you say "reasonable gun control" is in place and law abiding citizens follow it and acquire their firearms as allowed. They are rarely ever the ones to commit crimes. It is those who do not legally acquire and own them that do the deeds. From the moment they get the gun they are illegal even before doing the crime.. how are laws at fault in this case?

Those looking to break the laws will do so regardless of how "strict" the laws are.

You're right, but what's stopping them from turning into violent criminals? Their wives go out shopping, get killed in a shooting? Their kids gets killed at school? Might be enough for any law abiding, gun owning citizen to become a killer.

whats to stop me from deciding to get up, head to my kitchen, grab a knife and kill both my roommates. Or whats to stop one of the nurses at my fathers nursing home from deciding they hate my father, and to overdoes him on insulin?

There is no point in worrying about what-ifs. If they end up doing something stupid like that, then the law will punish them, but honestly most people don't snap just like that, and most people won't just kill for the sake of killing. That kind of logic is incredibly flawed.

Look. I am not saying you cannot own a gun. You just don’t need an armory. Look at other nations who allow gun ownership, they don’t have these kind of problems. Why do you think that is the case?
