It dont take an Einstein to figure out the view from a middle-class white suburb is considerably different to that from a penthouse, or a ghetto. It also dont take an Einstein to see that the problems of the top 1% are considered a political crisis, the problems of the middle class are 'tough to get a handle on'' and the problems of the ghetto, well, that's their own fault for living in one.

I dont know myself ive never made it to middle class myself. But ghetto im familiar with..

What does the flag and anthem stand for? It represents a nation, and what that nation means to its people, or should mean, and to ALL its people, not just some.
Equality? Isnt that a keystone of the American ideal? Maybe some familiar words might help here : 'We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.' Can you, in all honesty, agree such sentiments are considered to be 'truths' in todays America and are pursued with any degree of zeal or commitment? Can you agree that, for many, the rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness are not deemed equally inalienable?
Respecting a mockery does not make it respectable, anymore than reciting an Oath of Loyalty makes anyone more loyal. they are or they are not.
Nobody says it, but how many care about it enough to stand and say, 'We need to fix this!'.

That flag and anthem played out over Jim Crow Laws and Segregation too : what does that tell us about mockery of the ideals they should represent?

I personally find many of the people in todays world are quite moronic and deceitful-though I think part of that is because often times it is those same people who are also the loudest and that often drowns out and makes the more reasonable people harder to find. I don't watch sports period, so I have no knowledge of this incident, but from what little I gleamed here it sounds like they are not doing anything wrong-simply refusing to stand for the anthem which is completely in their rights, and honestly shouldn't be that big a deal. Hell I'm sure there are some football players who aren't even American natives though again I don't watch them so I could be wrong. Though I may look into this incident to better inform myself, since I don't really know anything about it aside from what I gleamed here.

Just checked, and according to it out of 773 people shot and killed it says 43 of them were unarmed. That is a pretty small percentage honesty, and even then just because they were unarmed does not mean they were not a threat. They could have attacked the cop unarmed, or have done something else that provoked the officer to shoot. It stinks when cops end up killing someone, but the vast majority of time there was a reason for it-there are not many people who kill just for shits and giggles.

I agree. The amount of videos I see about police violence... or that's what they're called anyway. I see it as police trying to do their jobs and people not complying. Not saying that it's the same in every case, but most of them. If you're told by police to tale your hands out of your pocket, and you refuse, they have all the right to think you are armed and they have all the right to shoot you on the spot, as in the current day and ave you don't know who is a real threat
