Gem Mining

Relating to Guluere's previous Gem Stone idea, I was thinking of an idea to implement Gem Stones without Port Market, so it wouldn't be just another worthless game mechanic that is copying ones that already exists.

Gem Mining:
- All ports have a Gem Mining area
- You can hire workers (and every worker crew requires a manager)
- 100 workers = one manager
- The more workers, the more gem stones you find.
- Special Event Gems
- Gems are sold when found (excluding special event gems)
- You pay DAILY gc for the workers and management.
- A ton of voodoo cards can be used to decrease a player's staff, or staff morale.
- Gem Mining requires an input of turns in order to hire more workers.
- Everyday, you input X amount of turns in order to power mining. X = amount of managers.

Special Event Gems:
- Special Event Gems can be sold for a ton of gold (depending on the type, I would say 10 million - 80 million).
- Uncovering Special Event Gems is EXTREMELY rare, and deserves a Global Notification.
- Special Event Gems can also be stored in a ship. The fleet the ship is in will receive an extra (insert percentage depending on Gem) attack/defense, and the fleet can never miss a Skirmish, or be skirmished.
- If the fleet carrying the Special Event Gem is plundered, the gem is given to the player who plundered the ship.
- No one can tell which fleet carries the Special Event Gem.

Any suggestions?

Nice idea, the manager would be nice being in the officers tab, and each buy will increase it by 5%? Maybe, and starting would be maybe 10 mill? We should make it has hard to find it as we can.

A 0.5% is good, but for it to be super rare, I would say, 0.01%.

Having defer gem quality is nice too.

And danik, or someone, he says that having a thing that does nothing for the sake of looking good, works more well in the long term.

Those details will require quite a bit of talking over. Still stuck on if this feature should only belong to richer players, or new ones as well.

I much prefer Gems to appear in treasure fleets, or in NPC treasure hunts, as discussed in the "gems" thread.

The reason is that I'd want the number of gems found to be dependent on turns invested looking for gems, NOT dependent on the amount of gold invested in "gem finding" infrastructure. A matter of taste, I suppose, but I would prefer that rich people would have to spend gold buying gems from others, rather than be able to invest the gold into finding gems directly. It will make gem searching attractive for poorer players, while the rich ones can buy them on the market anyway.

Why copy an old game mechanic, instead of creating an original one? Rich people can buy Special Event Gems on the market.
