I heard it's all a rouse. Noffin wants the turtle meat for himself and as such has made it a "sacred" creature.....
Bloody Nobles!

Ron was raised and taught by the best, and had a glorious future ahead of him when he one day decided to leave his old home to join a nation and trading guild. There, he helped the nation of USA become what it is today. So there can be no doubt that despite making the obvious mistake of once leaving the greatest guild in Avonmora, Ron is a great guy to have by your side during port battles. He stands tall through any fight. He also has had a number of great SoLs sailing...

For her 7th crew member, Anne Bonny takes Tom Lowe. I have found myself fighting both with and against Tom through the ages, and it has always been a pleasure. Don't let his nice manners and joviality fool you, though. This is a seasoned fighter. Way back when, he was famous for making goldsmiths lose their sleep by continually skirmishing their fleets for gold bars. In later years he is often found lurking around the right ports at the right time, striking any trader appearing on the boards on his watch. And although Tom is most famous for his actions at sea, he is no stranger to port battles either. Oh, and beware if you ever get in close combat with him. You may think you have the upper hand, until he utters the famous words: "I'm not left-handed either!".

Next, Kim selects Clockwork for his 8th crew member. A man of many names (don't ever change it again, I hate that!), Clockwork makes headlines on a daily basis these day, becoming King of a new nation several times a week. While there can be no doubt about the resources and knowledge Clockwork possesses, I would like to point out another of his abilities: A trainer of newbies. Clockwork likes to share his wisdom with new players. Many are the sailors who can say "oh, Clockwork taught me that". This guy will surely make your rookies stronger. However, there are also quite a few whose souls and skins are scarred by the heavy hand he sometimes employs during his lessons. "What doesn't kill you, makes you stronger", sure, but his methods may occasionally be a tad to harsh for some. Clockwork is also known in many ports as a bit of a troublemaker. But that is good, right? You'd rather have such a player on your team than with your enemy, right? Right?
And with her 8th pick, Anne Bonny is looking out for the wildlife of Avonmora, and chooses Noffin, King of the Turtles! Noffin has been around for quite a while, sailing the seas with the turtles, always loyal to his friends in VUDU. He has seen many battles and weathered many a storm. And as the saying goes, "turtles wins wars", so surely Noffin is a great addition to any team. Or at least, he WAS! These days, rumors are that sea turtles are an endangered species, in danger of going extinct. Are there enough left to change the tide of a battle? Says one former Dominican governor: "Lately, there are hardly enough of them left for a decent bowl of soup!"
Not surprisingly, Zephore chooses Redbard as his 8th member. Redbard would probably quietly have sailed under Zephore's radar, were it not for the recent war between Bermuda and USA. There, Redbard displayed his true force to those fighting on the Bermuda side. Ever trying to avoid the spotlight, Redbard is sailing a formidable armada of trade fleets across the seas (my skirmishing captains thank you!), and has built his wealth by playing it safe and not engaging in any major conflict. But as this latest war has shown, if he is ever called to fight for his nation, Redbard shows up, with actions above and beyond the call of duty.
Next up is Pitt, who picks Damn the Torpedos. From the once notorious, but now quiet guild of ZOMB, DTT is a huge trader with a commitment to nations. Lately, he moved to the great nation of Tokelau to strengthen their defences - and no doubt join the "secret society of bankers for a New World Order". DTT is a generous guy; always ready with plenty of voodoo on anyone who tries to plunder him. His fleets keep making vast amounts of gold, which I'm sure he is more than ready to spend to protect his nation's ports if it ever becomes necessary.
And Banger ends round 8 by taking Yosarian. I can neither confirm nor deny having done business with Yosarian during my prime days as a Naval Combat Solutions Provider, of course, but rumor has it that Yosarian has always been a vital part of Bermuda. Trained by the legendary Kart in SSTG, he knows how to set up a guild and nation, and how to properly organize a defense. Yosarian has been with Bermuda since it's prime, and seen many a port battle through his years. Why was Yosarian not chosen sooner? Perhaps there is... a catch? (Hint: 11x2).
As we start round nine, the last one before the rookie round, Banger gets Jolly Dodger. Jolly has always been a trader, and his captains always try to dodge my skirmish attempts. And those who don't, occasionally use escorts, which really is not fair. Jolly was in Egypt during its glorious days when PhoenixKnight ruled there, and he also was part of St Kitts - which, to those who remember, in itself is proof that he has seen many port battles. Now he sails under Spanish flags, and as a True Trader, he resides in the TUDOR guild, where many likeminded wealthy targets merchants reside. Jolly will help raise the gold needed for the fight, but if anyone comes for him - will he be able to dodge the bullet?
