Fantasy Draft VIII is off to a blazing start ladies, gentlemen, and scallywags! Three picks, just like that, and oh are they some picks. Banger came right off the bat with Pro, a strong choice in any circumstance. William Pitt followed close behind with Kangaroo, an insightful choice demonstrating just how committed he is to win this draft. Shortly after, Zephore is clearly pulling no punches, announcing he would be taking The Accountant for his first pick, a real steal! We now wait on Anne Bonny to announce her first pick, and the seconds pass like hours!

Now, we've got some very strong first picks here, but I think we're overlooking a certain somebody so far...

Now, as I was saying, I believe everyone's really sleeping on a certain someone, and that's the one and only A'ck Kwomfwo.
If we're talking port control, A'ck Kwomfwo clearly has an upper hand over most competitors. His main competition comes in the form of Literally Anyone, folks, and they may be the only reason to justify A'ck not being one of the next picks. He's faced adversity, he's made allies, he's challenged even established nations fearlessly! As a new player, no less! He even threw a bunch of gold at Akrotiri that one time after declaring war on the Isle of Man, and honestly for the sake of this commentary, I'm willing to call that a semi-successful "Port Takeover".

Now, the bigger the problem comes in with A'ck's recent silence- has he been online in 14 days, and can it be demonstrated? He certainly came out strong right off the bat, but that doesn't matter if he's inactive now. As far as that goes, I'm not quite sure myself, so this next pick could honestly be a toss-up. It'll be up to Anne Bonny and Kim Jong Un to decide whether he'll make it into the first-round picks this season.

It is worth noting that both XProx and TA recently was involved in a port battle with their nation USA, and thus have fresh experience with this. Kangaroo, from Tokelau, has not, but then again, maybe the ability to avoid a war is more important than the ability to win one? We will see how the next captains consider this when they make their choices.

Crackin start...I just wanted to let you know I have been out all night searching for Anne. I finally found her passed out in an old barrel somewhere in the backstreets of Vaasburg. Mindless.

I have managed to throw her in the drink to sober up and she is currently making her way back to her marina.
She was muttering something about a certain draft pick or something...it was incoherent.
She did apologise in her own inimitable way...and I believe she is on her way here now and will arrive shortly.
