She thinks for a moment and nods.

Well, I cant, me and my people only deal with the Sev's to the south when they send trade ships over. They give us delicious bugs and beasts for us to eat, and we give them tools. We never leave our island except for fishing- so we don't know where the other tribes are. But, we have a bunch of prisoners from the Dag tribe. They occasionally launch raids on us, and we take them prisoners, until we get hungry and we eat them. Food tastes best fresh-so we let them live until we get hungry. We can give you one of them so they can tell you things, would you like that?

Zephyra leans toward Jack and whispers

We might be able to also use the prisoner as a bargaining chip for their people-I say we take one.

She begins to walk toward a large door near the back of her building, and shouts to them

You 2 should come with me. They Dag people tend to scream a lot when we release them-mainly on account of them knowing we plan to eat them. But if you 2 tell the prisoner you aim to take them they won't scream. I really hate when food screams.

She opens the door and gestures for them to follow. Zephyra sighs and follows after her though she whispers to Jack

Let's just get in and get out fast. Friendly or not, they creep me out. The things I went through while I was alone was horrid. Hell sounds nice right now.

Jack laughs

Really? I saw a vision of hell, I saw a guy getting dissected in a fiery pit and that's his punishment for all eternity

Jack's smile fades and he shivers in recollection

I disagree with your statement vehemently. Hell is so awful I wouldn't wish it on anyone, not in ernest anyway.

She laughs back

You saw a vision of hell- but I've been in it. Mother took me once, as a "learning" experience when she needed to get something from the place. It was most definitely an awful time, but what I have seen and experienced here is just as bad if not worse. I'd rather not speak of it.

They eventually come to a cave full of spiderwebs, and over a dozen different men and women are wrapped up, as disgusting looking mosquito like bugs occasionally inject some sort of liquid into them, causing them to shake and scream against their bindings. The chief grabs the smallest looking one, and frees her, and she immediately tries to run, the chief quickly tries to stop her with her foot, only to smash her into pulp. She looks at the remains and shrugs, grabs another and hands it to Jack still tied.

I think i should let you free this one-back on your ship. Now if you will excuse me, this pulp won't eat itself.

Zeph quickly follows suit to the ships, all the natives still greeting them and waving, as they board back on the ship, and free the Dag prisoner-a middle aged woman who looks very small and spry. She's shaking and crying and mumbling incoherently. Brian shouts to Jack

Let's get the hell out of here now shall we?

Jack nods

Aye, all hands to the capstan!

Fr. Michael comes over with some hard tack and some water mixed with wine, he walks over to the woman and helps her up on a chair. He gives her the bread speaking in a soothing voice:

There, your safe now, no need to worry.

Jack walks over to zephyra

You know, I'm considering the possibility of coming back here sometime with warships and doing something drastic. I've never seen such misery on earth, they can only be described as war crimes.

She looks to Jack.

They specifically stated that their prisoners ATTACKED them-with the intent to raid their resources and kill them. I won't lie-i really don't like these things, but they were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and polite-albeit annoying and creepy. But They even said they don't leave the island except to fish-so all one needs to do to not end up like this woman is to not enter their lands and break their laws. So all in all, this woman deserved her fate-had she and her people not attacked they wouldn't be getting captured and eaten.

Jack sighs

Yes, but I didn't here them say their intention was to kill all of them, as a raid implys a quick preemptive strike, meaning that they couldn't kill everybody, though I could be wrong, I don't remember it well. And also, should we not investigate their claims? Couldn't they be lying? They've got quite a powerful army could they not be the ones raiding? My point is that for this situation, it would be a good idea to investigate the other side of the story, especially the fact that there were women in the raiding party.
