Jack looks around a bit, then says:

We did that to stop you from destroying every single port.

Rhena just smiles before replying.

Who told you I aimed to destroy all the ports? I merely wished to wipe most of them out. Thankfully I still managed to wipe out several, but not as many as I hoped.

She just chuckles as she looks up.

But, next time I should be able to do a better job. Hopefully no one will be foolish and stop me next time. You know, you people have such a problem with seeing the bigger picture. Thankfully Vune didn't just outright stop me. She saw the wisdom in my plan, which is why she mostly let it happen. Though I made a mistake in angering her, I will not make that mistake again.

Jack whispers in Emily's ear

What do we do?

Emily whispers back.

Let her talk, I don't trust this, so I'm scanning this room and everything around us, this has to be a trap.

Rhena laughs for a bit.

No trap. Come in and fight if you want. I don't recommend it.

Rhena brushes her hair and just looks at them disappointed

You know, I'm surprised no ones asked me WHY I did this. Also surprised your all so cowardly.

Agnar sighs

You seem high of yourself. And for whatever reason you did it for, doesn't justify the action.

Rhena just shakes her head sadly.

So shortsighted and blind.

She focuses on Emily.

At the moment you think like your friends do, because like them you have only lived for a few measly decades. But in time, you will see the world like me, Vune and other immortals do. And you will see the wisdom in the actions I have taken.

Rhena focuses back on the others.

But sadly those who live such short sad lives like your friends are unlikely to fully understand. They can not see the big picture. And yes, I do think rather highly of myself, I have lived far longer then most, seen many things and learned much. I have gathered considerable power and resources. And, like Vune I see the problem that is coming, but unlike her I intend to try to stop it ahead of time.

Agnar just scowls and speaks with a sarcastic voice

Oh, so wise mage, why did you do it? Now you got the question.

she just looks to agnar smiling, and says in a rather mocking voice.

Because you stupid little simpleton, we humans are basically a cancer that's going to kill everyone and everything someday if nothing is done. Look back at the past and see just how far humanity has spread in colonizing and settling new lands. Constantly growing, and spreading like cancer. This forces many animals and resources into extinction, as well as makes fewer and fewer places for mages to hide from enemies. If left unchecked, someday there won't be an ounce of land that isn't owned by someone, not enough food or resources will be available for everyone, wars will happen, and mages will have no hideouts.

She laughs a little

So, I decided I would start culling the herd now, and try to nip this problem in the bud. I intended to wipe out 2/3rds of the ports, but only managed 1/3rd. Still that should help for a while. This was, after all essentially a test run. Decent success, would have been a complete success if other mages hadn't stopped me. Of course short lived fools like you don't care-why should you, you all will be dead when this actually becomes a problem. But your descendants will curse your name for not planning ahead.

She smiles as she continues

Even Vune agreed that culling the population would be beneficial-she just wasn't willing to do it. Although she could have stopped me from the start if she wanted too-but she decided to let me cull a good portion before doing anything, sadly i made the mistake of attacking her, a stupid foolish decision, one that i will not make again.

She gestures to the table and chairs in front of her.

So do you just intend to stand at my doorway, or would you like to take a seat.

Edvin takes some very careful steps back into the shadows, without being noticed, Agnar sighs

Might as well.

Agnar steps inside

But again, if you look at the past, nature has found a way to help itself at times. Pest, be an example.

Rhena shakes her head as Emily comes forward and sits down, Carl next to her

And humans keep finding ways to fight back. We are clever beings Agnar. If we have a problem we seek to fix it. The downside is, we often do not check to see how fixing one problem may cause another. And since most do not live past a hundred, they do not think to look at problems down the road. But those who live longer lives, myself, Vune and others eventually get to the point where we no longer pay much attention to current problems, but rather focus on future ones.

Rhena gives a serious look.

I will not lie. I do take some joy in the destruction and death of the ports. I have grudges against most of humanity so doing this pleases me. But this was not done just out of vengeance or foolishness. I truly do believe that steps must be taken to prevent this problem, and so I am willing to kill to do so. That is why I have not personally killed any of you. And it is why I am speaking to you here, and not just fighting you or simply running. You, like me did what you did because you believed it to be right.

I may be wrong. Perhaps the future me and Vune worry about will not come to be. But i do not wish to chance it.
