There are three important things that need to be said as they are important for the success of any future event.
1)FrequencyI think that most already agree that an exact same event would do more harm than good if it was repeated in a close time. 6 months might still be a few time. Annual woks best for this kind of things.
2)DiversityDiversity is a great thing to have. Since annual is too long for most, you could create more events that will take place annually but they will be different which will ensure interest and value since they will be different.
3)OrganizationShadowood is the current coordinator and I hope he will be for many years to come. However, since we do not know if Shadowood will be here forever or even willing to do it, he should assume the responsibility of leaving a worthy replacement should such need arises. Moreover, he should not be forced to be the coordinator of every such event or even every draft event but instead he (or his replacement) should be free to pick a worthy one-time replacement.
Now that these important things have been said, there also needs to be an administration position. Our position is as follows:
We really favor such events, organized and executed by the players themselves where administration has no involvement. We are willing to back up such events with in-game badges (no such thing exists yet though), achievements, whatever needed. We had our own similar idea here:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1078&p=21572&hilit=player+awards#p21572 which proves our genuine interest in such awards. There is one difference though, the organizer is the game/administration where here the organizer is the player. This is why we will not wet our feet much in how these events should be. This means that you should not expect from us any approval or anything. Work out the plan and proceed with it; it's your event.
We can however give you ideas.
Like, I noticed that in your effort to diversify the event, you all stumble upon the same variable: Captains
Are captains an element that will always be needed? This really cuts the number of possible diversifying versions. Sure, they are a way and can be used again but if you are looking to create about 3 or 4 versions (1 event every 3 or 4 months) you might need one of them with a different approach.
