Rising Tensions- Foreign and Domestic
Welcome to the first edition of the Spaniard Chronicles! I had nothing else to do until later today so I figured I could pump one out. This article will be about the tensions between Spain and their long term ally Mexico and the USA.

A quick background on the issue for those who haven't been around for this long (it's been a relatively short amount of time since it started) or those who just don't care to weigh in on the events that have occurred. It all started with an ex-giant player, Rothschild. He brought a "golden age" to the United States: their guild was one of the top ranked groups and the nation was #1 in almost everything. Unbeknownst (?) to the other members of the guild, Rothschild had used a ton of gold to take all of Spain's ports and expand the US to having half of the ports in Avonmora. Now, I haven't been on PG long enough to experience this, but I know that Barbados once controlled the entire map and that did not last. Spain stirred for a few days: what should we do... what should we do? Finally, they figured it out! We'll negotiate with them after a little damage has been inflicted and see if they are open to debate. Then, out of nowhere, Rothschild was banned for multi-playing as Jack Aubrey, another powerful member of the US whom Roth's most likely chose to leave his privateer-ing life for and join the US because he was planning this war against Spain for some time. Lockreed took the helm of the guild and 'tried' to negotiate with Spain but to no avail. The spaniards poured money into the ports they wanted back and received them subsequently(shoutout to Jim Hawkins for dumping hundreds of millions of gold coins into one of the ports we didn't need but having enough money to say "eh what the hell"). The leadership cycled yet again, and Ziggfried was now the leader. I wonder who will next... there are only 6 bullets in a revolver. Zigg left because he either couldn't handle all of the problems the previous leadership had failed to fix or he just didn't want to be held responsible for the wrongdoings of his nation.

Current Problems
After all of this had happened and a new page had been turned over, the Mexicans, with their famous donkeys and quite strong alcohol, invaded the US and became the leaders. They shelled out some money to people in the US, a tradition that has happened for quite some time (not too sure what it is for, maybe activity or progression in the guild/nation). The usurpation of the throne caused a great outburst of disgust and hatred from US citizens. "I knew we should've built that damned wall," one citizen was quoted saying. The mud has been slung back and forth from King to citizens, debating on what their intentions were and are, what should happen, and why what they are doing is either wrong or completely justified.

Edit:
After the removal of Roths and Jack Aubrey from the game, the US leadership offered Spain a deal to restore all of the taken ports occupied by the US and to bring peace to both nations. Spain agreed but only if Portugal's port was changed from Gasp to Psaral. A negotiator that respresented Spain dealt with Lockreed in these engagements but reported that, "where the US made its error was when they negotiated with me for Spain, they thought they were also talking with Ayes (a guild who is not only Spanish but also Mexican) when they had no true intention to help Mexico (more specifically, Regis and Danik/LT). Lockreed failed to acknowledge the Mexicans and associated Ayes with two different nations, which is a huge factor in why there are currently "illegal aliens taking our jobs!!!" in the US.

Perhaps Lockreed fell victim to the constant propaganda from certain quarters that Mexico and Spain are one and the same : a nonsense which the proudly independent nation of Mexico finds deeply insulting : When the founders of Mexico departed Spain and took their ports with them, it was cordially agreed that firstly, our efforts within Spain over some period had earned those ports and that secondly it met Spains commitment to opening the port control map up to new nations : Yes, Mexico maintains good relations with Spain, as it also does with other port-owning nations. But Mexico charts its own course, under its own leadership and according to its own needs and desires.

It also negotiates its own agreements and that's where the kernel of this matter lies. We have been open to negotiation on this matter, we have given each new leader time to make an offer : instead each has repeated the same error : we refuse to be ignored in this matter so we remain at war until a [U.S.A] guild-leader emerges who will negotiate and agree a settlement : until that time, we make our own recompense.

This was posted in the USA forums today :

As the only practical way to remove us is to pay us to go, then those who wish us gone should consider their offer. In the absence of any such realistic offer, we shall liquidate the nations assets instead : that is, get rid of the ports thus removing any income save ship tax, burn down the rest of the treasury and then we shall leave.

When a nation starts a war and then loses, usually, the winning nation will accept the repair of damages the attacker inflicted. If the attacking nation fails to acknowledge its role or accept responsibility for its actions, it is very difficult for that nation to garner support or sympathy from other nations.

USA attacked Spain. USA attacked Mexico. Spain is content with the recompense offered. Mexico is not.
What part are you not sure about in this whole debacle and why do you think USA is immune to the same rules of conflict that every nation is subjected to ?

Perhaps you feel you are not responsible and the one who did this injustice is long gone. That is partly true but the problem is, it was the Nation that did the Pearl Harbour style attack on Spain and Mexico and you are part of that nation and therefore by default, partly responsible.

So, again, what part do you not quite understand as it seems very clear to me. Paying the recompense would have been so much cheaper, USA probably would have been spared its ports and it actually would have been 1 port ahead and thriving before the whole incident was started .

I feel those who acually did the actions sjould be held responsible not those who tried to qork against it and failed.. our guild the ones that are left did nothing against spain or mexico... ive reacted to attacks on our guild along with the rest of the guild in defence. Why are we being held responsible. Why can you not accept that your after the wrong guys
