Re: Stockpile

Very,very good CJ,
Would it be too far off topic to mention the difficulty I have when I have numerous fleets in port and I want to load a specific fleet with specific goods ?
Similar problem when I want to unload a specific fleet of goods with multiple fleets in port.

My old drug/alcohol addled brain finds it extremely cumbersome and difficult to remember what ship name is in what fleet to choose 5 correct ships to load with goods from my warehouse.
Any chance of making a Load/Unload Fleet option ?

-If you go to ship screen, there is a link called Unload Ship cargo. I guess you are already aware of this?
-If I get it right, you want an option to offload Fleet's cargo, correct?

For loading, I cannot think anything better than replacing radio buttons with checkboxes, so you will be able to load more than 1 ships.

However, if we want to be practical, any such micromanagement ends up frustrating in the long time. The controls might exist but the trade routes are the way to go. With this new Trade route option, everything should be then possible so that manual management will be only really rare. No? Let me know.

"-If I get it right, you want an option to offload Fleet's cargo, correct?"

That is part of my problem but being able to assign specific cargo to a specific fleet would eliminate much of the micro management I currently experience.

Here is what happens-

At my central warehouse, there are fleets arriving and departing continuously on designated trade routes ensuring adequate stocks.
At the same time, manually controlled fleets are loading for redistribution to specific ports of specific stocks dependant on profit availability which is continuously changing.

I currently have to remember the names of every ship in speciality fleet "A" to load with specific goods.
Speciality fleet "A" is set up to travel faster than Speciality fleet "B" although they contain similar/same ship types.
Speciality Fleet "B" travels a little slower but has greater defense abilities and may be loaded with different goods.
Throw in Speciality fleet "C" waiting to be loaded that again has slightly different strengths but again, similar ships.
Fleets A,B,C, all have different designated ports of arrival with the fastest fleet going the farthest distance unless circumstance requires something different.

Now as one starts loading, perhaps a few trade supply/stocking ship arrives again complicating the list to sort through looking for a specific ship name to load with a specific cargo becomes somewhat tedious.

I can remember the names of 3 or 4 speciality fleets and find them easy in a fleet line-up display but trying to remember the names of 15-20 ships... too difficult. Then try to find a specific ship when there are 30-40 ships displayed on the screen
I have, on occasion, dispatched fleets out of port with no loads just to clean up the ship list I am forced to use when loading.
This results in a lot of switching back and forth to see what the name of the next ship I want loaded in fleet "A" is.

Ability to both load and unload FLEETS that have been pre-configured would eliminate a lot of micro-management I currently experience.

I hope this long winded description accurately conveys what I find to be a cumbersome process but check boxes would be a help if I must deal with ships as opposed to fleets.

I agree with Stan : I often need/desire to make a one-off change to a set route, to perhaps ship some bars for a quick cash boost, being able to do a 'one-touch' manual load into the fleet then let it go off and then return and be back to its original set-up would be a boon. Like Stan, I often have fleets clogging up my port waiting for the tide and the list of individual ships can get very long under the current system.

I need more details on what you specifically need to make your life easier. I am not sure I got it right.

So far, this is what I gathered that you need:

Unloading
-At the ship selection screen, group ships by fleets.
-Display fleet name for each group
-Allow multiple ships selection (or multiple fleets)
-Allow selection of all ships in a fleet with a single click

Loading
All the above plus:
-Automatic calculations for cargo loading (In case you select more than available cargo, it will not produce an error. If available cargo is greater, it will still select automatically resolve issues)

Finally, I am guessing you need something more to ease manual gold bars trading. Not sure what though. Lets agree on these first.

The above would resolve all my issues and be of great benefit to me, thankee.

You have summed it up nicely CJ
That would really help me as well. It will take a task that can last 30 minutes into a few easy mouse clicks.

Changes made make things so much easier already. :respect

As a result, I no longer can load straight to a ship from the market.
I must purchase market goods to my warehouse and then load my ships from my warehouse. If you do not see this , I shall post in bugs.
