You can spend it on warehouse... then buy some resources and store it in the warehouse. This way, you never run out of gold and the enemies take nothing (but fame, which should not be a worry)!

THE ABOVE STATEMENT IS COMPLETELY WRONG AND YOU SHOULD IGNORE IT!
I did exactly that, but had my ONLY ship destroyed by voodoo.

Seems the game lost it's way. Maybe Witch Doctors Glory might be a more appropriate name now, as piracy has no place here, only spell casting.

Maybe we can have a banking system that loan out money for people who are really broke but they have to pay back with a tiny interest later. Or maybe even a ship loaning system for those who had their only ships destroyed. like rental cars. if they are keen to continue, they have a limited time to get a new ship....

... is it possible to just terminate your account and get a new one :?: if you can then there's no point in dragging on a dead account and having to pay interest for it :?

Btw I thought this is the 'Help us make the game more newbie friendly' topic, not a 'I'm doomed and I don't like it' topic

I agree. The only thing that the extensive voodoo has done is to remove the fun from the game. :? I can't wait to accomplish my goals and quit.

If you find it an issue, propose a solution that may improve the system... complaining endlessly won't really affect anything but make others annoyed. :geek:

I started the game with a howker, soon bought my second one, and so on until the 5th. With that fleet I had the background to buy my first pirate-ship, a Sloop of war. Fitted it wiht max cannon and max crew.

So a lot of work before I had my first fight. So I was very excited to fight my first battle. I chose a normal sloop (NPC) as opponent and I calculated that may Sloop of War is stronger 2:1. Well, but my cannon were apparently not able to hit him, hit raito of 10%, while he shredded me to pieces (hit ratio 75%). Soon my ship was sunk, while his (with half the cannon and far less hitpoints floated on).

Ok, bad luck, I thought and picked me a less powerful opponent this time, a cutter. The experience was the same: The NPC-Cutter scored hit after hit, while my men in their expensive sloop of war punched hole into the sea. So my ship was sunk again, by a far lesser opponent.

So even as worked a lot to afford a better starting ship (Sloop of War) I am defeated by the puniest of NPC-Opponents, without even being able to inflict any serious damage to them. Well now, that's funny. Thanks a lot and bye!

Did you assign your level points? Because it sounds like your fighting with an unleveled ship in those situations. (leveling them without assigning points only increases their HP methinks)
Kill one man
Murderer.
Kill a million
Conqueror.
Kill them all
God.

Yea, thanks for your reply. Yes, I have assigned them. Of course I couldn't level up my Sloop of War yet, that would cost 25k; which I found out first, as I have built it. But I have allocated the first points I got. Nevertheless, if 8 of my 16 cannons fire, there are usually 0 or 1 hit, and 8 to 7 misses. And an enemy, let's say a level 3 cutter keeps hitting me with the few cannons they have. And of course it's a lot of search to find an 1 Cutter low-level enemy. So there's my expensive Sloop of war and I cannot use it...

I don't know if it's the intention of the game designers that you play several weeks to be able to buy a good fighting ship and then you are not able to win over even the weakest available enemies. First you have to upgrade, and that takes you again several times the money you needed for the ship. That's the reason I'm writing this in the thread "newbie friendly".

thanks

It seems that many newer players try to save up for an expensive ship, then are unable to lvl it and progress.

I have to constantly remind some of my newer members that a lvl 10 sloop is much more effective than a lvl 2 frigate, or three lvl1 sloops of war.

Aye, this is my point. There was no hint for noob me that it works this way. By knowing other games of pirating and sea warfare or by assuming that it is in some way realistic, you would think, that a 16 gun ship will win over a 4 gun ship in 99,5% of the cases. Maybe a level or two more on the smaller ship increases it's fighting value some 5%, but still it's 4:1 in cannon and HP. So this was my assumption.

But regrettably wrong. Now I have that Sloop of War and I am unable to find any NPC enemy I could attack without being defeated and sunk. And upgrade for 25k is out of reach for a while. And even after the upgrade I will be level 2, which I think is not really a heavy improvement on level 1. I think I'll first fire the crew and sell the cannon, there'S no reason to pay upkeep until the ship is able to win the simplest fight.
