Technically both. You failed the goal, but succeeded in the task. If you are looking from a goal perspective you failed. If you look at the tasks outcome, you succeeded.

A goal is your intended result from a defined task. While the goal and task are related via a comparison of the actual outcome and the intended outcome, they are in itself two different things.
