What is special about it? What can i do that someone in nation cant?

It is considered a special rank. You are given certain bonuses in Pirate controlled ports:
*Recruitment does not require influence
*Recruitment is free of charge.
*Cannons are free of charge.
You are also given some other privileges:
*Upkeep costs are halved.
*+10% fame earned from plunder (ie if you earn 1000 fame, you earn a bonus of 10%, aka 100 fame more)

I would suggest you join a nation like Spain, Bermuda, Tokelau, Mexico, even Eygpt and Midways looks pretty decent to gain a future in the game. Piracy has not much to do as a new player, requires resources and skills, you will learn as the time pass on.

What skills? Doesnt a pirate attack for plunder, and just take the risks involved?
