The US has a large landmass filled with tons of cultures compared to the Netherlands or other nations.

if a person wants to own a ton of guns, if they do so legally, keep them secure and doesn't use them for nefarious reasons they should be allowed to do such. My father had 3 rifles but he kept them unloaded and chained to a wall to keep us kids from trying to use them. He didn't even keep ammo in the house.

Some people just enjoy shooting these kinds of weapons. Taking guns from people who aren't going to use them for malicious ways is wrong and won't stop criminals from killing people.

You're right, but what's stopping them from turning into violent criminals? Their wives go out shopping, get killed in a shooting? Their kids gets killed at school? Might be enough for any law abiding, gun owning citizen to become a killer.

Ah, no. Just no. In order to purchase any kind of weapon, extensive background checks re required. Meaning that if they're is any chance of them turning into killers, they wouldn't get guns. Also, most of thes mass shootings take place in gun-free zones, so removing people's guns won't do anything. And before you say anything, most crimes that involve guns are committed with pistols, fists kill more people, knives kill more people. The USA has this problem because gun free zones are still a thing

Most shootings happen in places people are not allowed to carry guns.. why do you think that is the case?.. simple no one is able to defend themselves and the shooters know this.

Think a gunman wanting to kill is going to draw in a bar in Texas where he knows everyone else has a gun on them?... not likely at all.

Yes the US has a lot of landmass and a lot of people, but tons of cultures has got nothing to do with it, as any country these days has tons of cultures.

The amount of people that live there, that's a problem though. The more people, the more people are actually lunatics. 1 million in 1 city, or 10 million in 1 city. 10 times more chance of lunatics walking around.

Exactly its kind of like bullies back in grade school. Most of them never pick a fight with someone who can fight back. Or most criminals tend to go for easy targets. No one would want to mug a literal giant like the big show on the street, but a young teenage girl carrying a iPhone in a secluded dark street, would be a muggers dream.

But you can't do away with gun-free zones either. Schools shouldn't be allowing guns. Yes if guns were allowed, people could defend themselves. But it's still a school full of kids. Unpredictable.

Life is unpredictable.. I'd rather a teacher who's had his background checked extensively be allowed to carry in order to defend than a teacher who can't and becomes at the mercy of a shooter strolling in..

Kids shouldn't carry guns. A responsible adult should to protect the kids, they do this in Israel, and only 8 people die a year from mass shootings.

Have it be allowed for security to own guns. Of course admittedly it would be tough to find people qualified to own guns willing to work as security in a school, but I think at least big schools should be able to. And I recall a test was actually done a while back, where a group of kids were left in a room alone with an unloaded gun that was barely hidden. The kids who found it whose parents were largely anti-gun played with it, while pro gun parent's kids stayed the hell away and avoided it-because the pro gun parents taught their kids that guns are NOT toys. Give children proper education on guns and most will know not to touch or play with them.
