fiber optic cable.

I see, I believe you are right.

What maximum distance does it offer? Do you know?

It essentially is around the world. The infrastructure is already in place and you can, in theory, rent a chunk of bandwidth off it for your own use. There are connection fee's and if a new 'drop' has to be installed or rented, charge for that as well.
Perhaps this is what your prof wants you to look into ?

assuming no splices and depending on sending units, etc...100 km

not to mention security is much better with fiber than copper.

So howmuch does premium fiber cable cost? Is HTTPS and certificates included or is that extra?

Does it have DDOS protection? Is there a Cloudflare fiber cable add-on? As well, are there bandwidth restrictions? Does it include an unlimited space FTP server? Any recommendation supplier of such cables? I heard 000fiberhost has free certificates so I might look into that.

As well, are there unlimited sub-domains in one cable, or do I need more per sub-domain?

I have heard some cases of Russians hacking into those Copper cables, but not one for those fiber cables. They are very reliable. Amazing encryption.

I am very inexperienced in hosting webpages. I thank you advance for your answers.

I don't know shit about networking but why the hell would a cable have these things Dos? DDoS protection? Subdomains? What does a fiber cable and webpages have in common? Russians hacking copper cables? Are you okay dude? Or you forgot to switch accounts? You were talking about viruses, giving tips about sql injections and cross site scripting and now you are very inexperienced in hosting web pages? Also what arenyou going to host that you need so much features? The new facebook?

I am a bit confused at these things to. To my knowledge, the only thing it offers is more then 'premium' Internet Speeds.

Sub-domains are basically subpages to a website www.piratesglory.com/forums/ -- This is a sub-domain.

To my knowledge also company's can put up DDOS protection so if they 'request' more then X pages it refuses to accept the 'packets'. No clue on what Fibre would do.

But in his defence, you do not need to know about hosting web pages in order to be a hacker. All you really have to know when doing 'web based attacks' is the software and what ports are used ( Port 80, Port 443 and those for FTP services and Mail applications )

As I said, I do not know what he is on about when it comes to the Russians hacking cables?

Maybe he means " Packet Sniffing? "?

copper (gold or other metal wires) transfers the signal through the cable but also radiates that signal from that cable to the environment. that's wht we (used to) have coax cables for our tv antenna etc, the metal netting on the outside functions as the cage of faraday and blocks the radiation.
glasfiber cables transmit light, this doesn't emit unwanted signals, at least not to the degree that copper wires do.
all this is just stuff i picked up somewhere, so i can be wrong.
i also read that glasfibre cables have an almost unlimited bandwith because of the frequency of light pulses. i don't understand what i am writing, just passing on what i read somewhere.

as a kid 35+ year ago i played with fisher technic; it had all kind of electronic stuff including light sensors and flexible silicone? rods that transferred light, we used morse code to communicate thru it. the knowledge is that old, now we are able to make light sensors that work so fast that data transfer is possible.

I was kidding. But k. I thought it was completely obvious. Some of things were plain silly. A cloudflare plugin? How could of you even taken that seriously lol.

Cloudflare is a service used so people can't DDoS your website. The KKK uses it, and so does BLM. Mainly because people really dislike those sites.

The 000fiberhost was a parody of 000webhost. And the certificates as well. SInce 000webhost is the first free webhost to offer free certificates....

The Russian hacking copper was a joke to when Psychodad said, "Fiber wires are safer than Cooper."
