PR-TEAM APOLOGY

To The Pirates Glory Community:

We, the PR Team, were formed for the purpose of promoting Pirates Glory on social media platforms. The promotional effort was to use game events and interviews as news to inform community outsiders of what Pirates Glory is and to hopefully entice them into joining this great community. While the team is made up of player volunteers, the team is still a representative of the game administration and must adhere to the same standards applied to the player Moderators and player Admins.

Recent activity by select PR Member(s) was brought forth to the game administration. The activity showed an abuse of privilege via the withholding of information obtained during official duties of the PR Team for personal gain. This activity gave validation to claims of information bias towards certain players/nations/guilds, and the claim of opinions being presented as facts within the PR Updates. The actions taken by the individual(s) constitute a considerable loss of trust with the administration and the community as a whole.

While not all PR Team Members were involved or aware of the specific activity, the actions tarnished the trust of the whole team. The game administration made efforts with the member(s) to rectify the issues. The administration, without success on a path forward, determined that the member(s) be removed from their role and ultimately removed from the PR Team. As a result the remaining team members chose to step forward.

In the interest of making recompense for the actions taken by member(s) of the PR Team, and in the hope to repair the trust between the PR Team, Administration, and Community, we ask for the community to accept this apology for the activity that has occurred and support us in progressing forward.

We, at the direction and guidance of the administration, are working on a path forward to repair this loss of trust. While the path forward will be continuous, the below points are what has been covered as of this update:
    - Administrative Oversight before publishing.
    - Opinion pieces (Editorials) will be marked as such.
    - Interviews will contain only the interviewee’s statements/opinions. The interviewer will only pose questions.
    - Off the record comments will not be used in any manner.
    - PR Team Members cannot conduct in game actions based on information learned during official duties until it has been posted on the community forums for 30 minutes.

Respectfully,
The PR Team

I have seen this before when we had journalists writing for the Avonmora news. Using info for personal gain and not using it in the newspaper. It is why I do not do requests for interviews anymore.

I accept your apology and hope others do as well. And we all can move forward without trying to destroy what framework that exists for the PR team.

I would also like to add in my own apology.

In hindsight, I really should have stepped in sooner. I saw some folks had issues with the PR team, though instead of talking to them and the PR team about those issues I just shrugged them off and decided the PR team can handle it without me. I realize now that was a mistake. I would also like to thank Dez for helping me realize that something needed to be done.

I look forward to future PR issues, and will make sure that in the future, issues are dealt with fast and fairly.

Thank you. Tom...appreciated.

There are three things that I would like to say:

1) No one is perfect, we all make mistakes. The only thing we can do when we make a mistake is to take responsibility for our mistake and learn how to not make that mistake in the future.

2) To the player that reported the abuse, I would to thank you for coming forward. You saw something that you felt was wrong and reported the actions. This took a lot of courage to do and you did what you felt was best for the community. While the administration prefers that such issues are not occurring, if and when they do, reporting them is the correct action.

2) While I am not the Community Administrator, I can't allow Mel to take full responsibility on not stepping in sooner. I have blame in this as well. I didn't help with the concerns in a manner that I should have when they were first brought forward, and my own discontent for the way the PR Team was operating likely exacerbated the problems. For this I'm sorry.

I will accept this for what it is which is an apology from those who were not the ones causing issues. Sad as it is that some do not at least have honor enough to apologize for their own actions, but rely on others to do it for them.

I will say I am glad there is a new direction and new leadership in the PR team and I will give them a fair shake.

Thank you Dez and Mel for your efforts.

i didnt see a posting seeking applicants for the roles yet behind the scenes a merc list was compiled and approved

I'm sure Argo will have no issue with you joining the PR Team to help balance out your perceived bias.
