Question?

I thought for a pirate game there would be more pirate related features. So far I have found a technology that aids in a pirate earning more but nothing else. There has to be more I am not aware of?

Are you asking about things that are purely(or mostly) for pirates, or things that are just linked to pirates in general. There are buried treasures you can dig up, or put In the ground, skirmish is a popular pirate feature(privateer too). Can't think of anything else at the moment, but I'm not a pirate myself. I think your guild master Vane can answer the question far better then me.

For about a month a was trading and found many different features that made it extensive, now that i am a pirate I find it "WAY" more engaging and entertaining but any specific features to the craft seem to be very lacking.

I asked vane and got word for word, "Nope... its a merchants game mate."

I posted here hoping anyone may know something more?

More pirate features are being put under discussion for development, and i intend to make it happen personally.

Well I will be very impressed the day I see a pirate specific feature added to this game.. one that all can use of course, but only truly benefits the true pirate.

just like all the trade features only really benefit the merchant yet can be used by the pirate of course. We know how precious it is to have the option for all to do all.. specialization in this game means nothing at all.

There is voodoo that ignores pirates. There is a discount on upkeep costs for pirates. There are no ship taxes for pirates.
Yes there are some barriers but pirates have many paths to choose and use for disposing of their ill-gotten gains or storing some assets for the inevitable rainy day.
Not all pirates live out on the lonely limb : many dabble in trade at times... most will use the ship market to make a few credits.. or the card market to swap ill-favored cards for more useful.. or the credit exchange to launder stolen gold into safe credits... and while a pirate cant own a public bank.. they can still stash more gains in those they dont own. Or they can be a purist and bury it.
Pirates Glory is a game of choices and options : the terms pirate, privateer, merchant are pretty broad strokes : not all merchants are the same... and neither are privateers or pirates. Build your own style of play that fits your talents and ferk the silly labels annd strictures of the purists. You may be a pirate today and a merchant tomorrow... much as they have been.

That said : developments that favor one path over another are welcome as long as the overall balance of the game remains : that dont mean no-one can be dis-advantaged by them.. just that the argument for must be powerful enough to win the cause.

Make the arguments then.. or stand by whinging cos no-one has or is making them for you.

So basically, all can do all? but if you fly a pirate flag you cant? Seems very deceptive given the games name.

I dont think it should be at all easy for a pirate, they were outcasts of society, built up by the media and hunted by the naval masses that roamed the sea. But they should have specific perks to add to their career path as should all others gain from theirs. I see High ranked members of a nation gain trading bonuses, why do those with the pirate flag not gain advantages in skirmishes or plundering? Why are our ships the same as a trader when truly we'd want to outfit them with more crew and guns than cargo space?

In my short week or so of being a pirate in this guild I have loved the game more than my first 30 days playing as a merchant. Though I do notice a huge disadvantage to playing this role and its kind of disappointing. It costs far more for a pirate in both activity and resources yet the rewards to counter the cost or drastically less so than a merchants.

My first hope when joining was to be a naval officer and i quickly learned its either trade or pirate. The middle ground some talk of is no less than trading and in the off time clicking after clicking on the plunder screens port to port. Hardly inspires naval action or piracy.

This game needs paths to follow based one individual desire not a can do all mentality. I seen kings actively attacking anyone they see when in reality thats absurd. They should have their admirals do the deed if the target has earned it. Its so streamlined it makes no sense.

As you said, piracy needs to be challenging. If it's too easy and lucrative then it may cause too many folks to go pirating, and then over farming happens which isn't good for anyone. But I do agree that pirates should get a buff or some other benefit sometime soon as I feel development has been too merchant heavy lately. But those are issues that the dev team deal with, not me. Regardless good luck in your piracy, without pirates this game would be rather boring so good luck in your plunders :hh
