The ironclad's captain spoke to Astor, and after a short discussion, it was agreed that the two frigates would escort them the rest of the way, along with the captured Bismarck. He returned to his vessel as Astor gave the order to lower the longboat, in order to look for survivors of the lost frigate.

A fair number of folks have already been picked up by the cutter, which moved to help look for folks as soon as the battle ended. After some time, everything and everyone that can be salvaged or saved is picked up, and the ships head onward. Emily says to Gaster

We should ask our escorts once we reach port if they can recommend a guide, or do you think we should just head straight to the castle and have the king recommend one? I'm fine either way honestly.

Head straight for the castle, I think. It wouldn't be wise to linger in Lynsaweer too long.

Emily just nods

Fair enough. We should be there soon I think, and then we can head straight for the castle and ask for an audience. Say it's an emergency regarding Dreadbolt. Should keep the group smallish, so it should just be you, me, the boys, Brian Carl and Eloth, and maybe one other if you want to bring someone along.

With the ironclads escorting them, they saw little trouble the remainder of the way up the coast. They smelled Lynsaweer long before it came into view. The air reeked of smoke and sweat, death and plague. Then, ever so slowly, the famed capital came into view. It stretched into the sky, most of the upper levels obscured by either the towering, iron plated stone walls, or the plumes of smog that rose up from the lowest levels. The port was protected by a wall as well, split by a pair of huge iron bound, ironwood doors. These doors stood open, flanked by a pair of ironclad warships- similar, in fact, to the captured Bismarck.

Emily looks around at the city, as they slowly begin to dock. Emily turns to Gaster and quickly nods

So do you know the way to the castle, or should we ask our escorts right quick then head on over? I'll ask the king for a map and then swing by some shops. Maybe get ourselves some ship upgrades or just new ships in general.

Gaster nods, pointing to a great central staircase that split the city in half, broken by checkpoints, great gatehouses to stem the tide of any attackers. Walls rose up either side, arrow slits every few feet- or rather, gun slits, to trap an enemy in a terrible crossfire. The gatehouses had great crossbows mounted, to decimate a shield charge.

There. The Great Stair. It leads up through the heart of Lynsaweer, straight to the palace, and the Dragon KIng of Lydrian, Ruler of the Iron City.

Emily nods as she begins walking

Well let's get going. We may have to answer quite a few questions or some other hassle so sooner the better.

As they ascended, they noticed markets on the landings of the Great Stair- and as they went higher, the amount of gold being exchanged grew larger, and larger- then, as they approached the palace, it topped- not because they were no longer trading- but because it was no longer gold. Instead, gaunt, bony figures dressed in old fashioned suits and dresses exchanged coins of reddish silver, which radiated with a strange magic energy.

Emily says to Gaster as they ascend

Seems the lower classes use gold, which is certainly a relief, was worried gold would be worthless here. The upper class seem to use something else though. Can't tell what it is right away, maybe if I got my hands on one up close and could run a test or two I'd figure it out. Any idea what it is? We should be nearing the castle too right?
