To comment on you OP. Is it scary? No. not really. SHM is correct, IoM is the most active nation on the board. What is scary is the lack of activity by other nations, guilds, etc.

Empires come and empires go. None last forever. Its damn hard building them up but thats fun, its a goal, its achievement, its fighting and lots of action. But once you got one, there is way too much dull stuff involved in keeping one. Life is just constant checking no-one is nibbling at the edges. Its pouring gold into influence, populations. Keeping your own account solvent just to feed it into the empires ever-hungry mouth. Dull. Tedious. Few thrills.

And thats why empires come and they go. Big thrills building them. Dull as ditchwater keeping them. Folk get bored, they move on. And the strength that gained them ends up too weak to hold them and a new hungry empire picks through the wreckage.

Its said that Alexander the Great broke down and wept after he had defeated his last enemy and seized total control of the then known world. For there were no more worlds to conquer and the fun was over.
