Antagonism and Gold Bars

I cant find any reference to this anywhere : so :

The card 'Antagonise' acts to reduce the coin earned from sales to 'base price -2' : Does (or should) this card act upon GB sales and if so, what is the 'base price' calculated to be?

As other cards have been tweaked to act upon GB's (List of Demands, for example), should this be made clear on the card descriptions themselves?

That is a very good point to bring up !

As a matter of fact, I would like to suggest the whole voodoo library descriptions be updated.
This is not to disparage the original scripts but, as a native English speaker, when first starting out, I found many card descriptions were not very clear to the resultant card effect.
I do not see it now as much but that is because I am familiar with most card usage and effects and still learning.

Do any new players find this to be true or was I just being thick about it ?

Would the player base and admin be interested in clearing up some of the descriptions that seemed ambiguous to me ?

UPDATE: Upon going through the voodoo library, many of the ambiguous curse descriptions have indeed been clarified.
As a matter of fact, I only found one grammatical error which is so minor, its not worth mentioning.
Sorry for bringing up a topic that has been attended to and repaired.
Thanks CJ.

For some reason, I've read it as PORT price minus 2gc. Since it says BASE price (which actually makes the card almost meaningful), Danik's question is a good one.

I've always read it that way too Haron.

Clarification on if it is BASE price -2, or PORT price -2 on sale would be great.

As Haron said, if this is in fact base price then the card holds much higher value.

As far as I am aware, 'base price' means the lowest price a resource is sold for : i.e 'Food' base price is 4 gc and any higher prices are calculated from that base price according to previous 3 days sales history and demand : Gold Bars work differently, being priced dynamically in real time. But, it has been written that the 'base price' ( i.e lowest price possible) of a Gold Bar is 750 gc : so, that would appear to mean that with an Antagonise cast, the price earned would ( or should) be 748 gc per bar?

To my mind, that would make this card an extremely powerful tool to use against a GB shipper, perhaps too powerful given the lowest making price is set at 1500 plus wages per bar.

But, it is still not certain that this card does act against GB sales : is this an omission or deliberate? Given other trade bonus cards do affect GB's (India cards, for example) should not the penalty cards also affect them?

I also interpreted it as port price. There is an easy way to find out.

The base price of wood is 8,which is the price most ports will pay for wood. The selling ports sell for base price minus 1, 2 and 3 gc respectively. Three ports will buy goods for more than base price (plus 1,2 and 3 respectively).

This has no parallel in gold bars.

A voodoo card does what it mentions exactly. Nothing more or less. We have put extra care in all scripts.

There might be cases where a rewrite is needed; we have done this already. Please specify cards that act differently than what they describe and we will examine a revision.

Regarding antagonize, it mentions resources. Gold Bars is a resource so it is covered. There was a problem when I tried to test it though and we found a bug. The bug has been fixed and it now works correctly.

If anyone exploited this particular bug, there will be complete reversals based on our logs and possible penalties. If any did this, you should better message us first with details before we do. As per the game rules, every bug found must be reported immediately.

UPDATE: Good news: None has exploited the bug found!

Base Prices are explained here:
http://s2.piratesglory.com/?page=help&a ... ase_prices

We have updated it just now as it mentioned 750 for Gold Bars which is deprecated. Theoretically, 750 is still valid as this is the minimum price that a market will pay but technically we will most probably never see this.
The game always assume the rate of the current port when possible. When it is not possible, it assumes the global average which is renewed every minute.
