(Rare) Reciprocate

Postby PFH » Thu Sep 24, 2020 10:56 am

Rare (Indecisive if I should make it Uncommon.)

Cost: 3(X + Y)

Description:

Select two target ships that you own that are the same class ship and same traits. The topmost (first) target ship’s level is X. The second target ship’s level is Y.

Destroy the first target ship. Second target ship gains 25% of the destroyed ship’s last recorded attribute points. Max Cap is 15 attribute points.

Some calculations with this and some reasoning behind some of the mechanics:

The maximum turns you can use with this card is 66 turns, and the reason is to imitate a ship being recycled and scrapped for good parts to be used on another ship. Additionally, this would take more time to do the more upgraded a ship is. Much easier taking apart a simple wooden hull than a double layered wooden and iron hull (I would think)

The reason I would destroy and remove the 1st ship is because I don’t want a loophole to sink and resurface a ship for free attributes on the 2nd target ship. Additionally, it comes with a cost and the more attributes the destroyed ship has, the more you lose. I don’t personally see how you could make a profit with this card unless you really spent a lot of time and were reliant on coincidental 5 point gains from releveling. Only real way I can see you making money off of this is if you plunder a bunch of ships off of someone for the off chance you have an expensive ship with the exact same attributes as one of the ships you stole. The bigger the ship, the rarer the chance of this happening, as let’s face it; there are more howkers and cutters Sailing the seas than MoW or ship of the line (maybe not in EdwardTeach’s case :D :D )

The reason for this to be Rare is because this acts similar in function to a Fire Ship card. Since Fire Ship has 2 ship targets within its effect, and since it is rare, I feel it is reasonable to make this card rare as well.

The reason I have this set for only ships with the same attributes and the same ship type, is because I don’t want someone to use a Howker to level up a man of war. That’s just overpowered within its own self. Plus, it’ll make it hard and make someone think twice before destroying a ship of the line to add a few points to another ship of the line.

The overall reason for this ship is to dispose of mostly useless ships that are accumulated and I do understand selling to ship Wright is a thing, however not everyone wants just gold or credits. Perhaps they have the same ship in marina or sailing and they don’t wish to use master craftsmanship (an expensive upgrade card) and wish to use the sabotaged (or bad luck driven) ship that is useless.

I’ve had frigates and bigger ships sabotaged and they basically become useless. They are really either OK for escorts or for scout fleets. Their ship Wright sell price is pretty low and the points are just bad, you really just miss out on some of the stuff that coulda been used

I mean in real life, I’ve gone through a few cars. I recently bought another Chrysler 300C and my old one had a bad transmission. I used the good parts out of my old one and put it into the new one. Made it pretty cheap to fix it for a while. The old one I ended up selling to someone else for a project they wanted to do.

I don’t see why you couldn’t do the same for ships. I mean I imagine they do the same on demolition of buildings sometimes. My work saves parts we find when taking down pipe work and all. Stainless steel pipes and some electrical panels are too good of quality to just throw away and scrap. Saves us money.

Anyway that’s the card I propose. Let me know what you guys think. Have any question please ask :)

Master craft is a waste of money in my opinion.

Just another card that could be added, with nothing to be too overpowered at all.

If I wanted a quick workaround, I would definitely not try to control a game for personal benefit. What fun would that be? I definitely have enough MC to make a ship strong if I really wanted to.

This appears to me just a more convoluted version of the mc - I don't see the advantage of simply adding one more voodoo card that is a variation of another card.

We already have too many voodoo cards as it is, thinning the randomizer for the gifting feature of the cards now.

I see your point, however CJ does want more voodoo cards. Said it is a need.

I don’t know where else to begin other than new variations of stuff
