World events (Small)

I feel like we are missing some form of game events.
A lot of games i played has events going on either per week or per month.
Events usually consist of somewhat of a worldwide quest, a certain bonus for a week/weekend, or things like that.

I feel that events would help keep people entertained a bit more, rather than same same ol daily grind.
We could even have a new Forum section of suggestions for the next event.
I understand that we wouldnt want to spend a lot of time on these as there are other things that need to be done, but i think some small simple things would help.

Examples of events :
Bonuses:
50% more influance/gc
10% more gold from selling at ports
5% chance getting 2x presents
10% more fame

Quests:
Sink the most ships or sink x ships
Use X amount of X voodoo
Upgrade a ship x amount of times
Buy x amount of voodoo from auction
Build x amount of ships

Some of these could even be daily/weekly repetitive quests

rewards could be in gc or credits

Approved, but development notation on this. Frequency of events/quests should not be daily or weekly. This seems too frequent. - Dez

I like part of this, but I dislike another part.

I do NOT like weekly/monthly repetitive "bonus" events. "Influence sunday" or "Tobacco month" is a bad idea to me. It has a feel of very different types of games, and doesn't really add anyhting other than a general increase in various types of "resources" (gold, fame, etc).

I DO like the "special event" suggestion, though. But the events should really BE special (not just "use x amount of c voodoo"). Something quite out of the ordinary. Maybe a "special treasure hunt", where you first have to battle NPC fleets for random chances of either hints of which port the treasure is buried in, or a part of a treasure map. Each treasure map increases the chance of finding the treasure in an NPC treasure hunt, if you go treasure hunting in the right port. Whoever finds the treasure first gets it. Or maybe a "special delivery". An NPC fleet starts owning the "Delivery", and then it can be looted by a player fleet. Then a timer starts, measuring how long that player possesses the "delivery" before someone else plunders it from him. Each time the "delivery" changes hands, it's announced in the global event who has the delivery. The fleet carrying the delivery can never get its danger below 3 for as long as it has the delivery. Whoever has carried the delivery for the longest total time at the end of the event, wins.

Just examples, and not necessary good ones, but such TYPES of special events would be really cool, in my opinion.

I feel like you have good suggestions there, but also consider that things like that will take time to develop, and take away time from game development.
It's has to be easy to make, but also a useful event.
At least for the start.

I couldn't agree more, bigtea. And for the time being, there are other features I hope gets the devs attention, so maybe something like this could be for a later date. And when the first event happens, it should, like you said, be easy to make.

I suggest everything that comes to mind.
Some are for now, some are for later, some for way way later.
But at'least it's said and maybe some ideas can help improve new upcoming features, so we have less to fix once they are out.

NPC Pirate Hunters have a portion of a treasure map of which you procure upon defeat of him.
The size or portion TBD (eg:1/4 map,1/6 map) with each win.
The pieces put together provide clues to a specific port and sector and how deep to dig where NPC treasure and Gems could be found ?
A really decent find The booty would have to be worth the trouble and perhaps the coding would be too time consuming but if we are throwing out idea's :?: :?:

yep that would be a good thing to add what Stan rogers said I rekon npc pirate mape find to dig up gold in some port get one part of mape on each win ......npc pirate only....gives piece of puzzle.....most npc 's sail a flag so it would take time to collect whole mape......well if it took aweek of attack wins with npc to come across 6 or so pirate npc ,then the treasure should be over 1,500,000 because if you had 200 turns aday and used all on attacking npc you may get one pirate npc win using 200 turns so 1000 turns ruffly gets 6 pirate npc's that's bout the ratio in 4 days of attacking npc players I don't recall many pirate flagged npc maybe 3 being generous 5 so it wouldn't be something that takes one day and that adds to the amussment of the game something you could build on makes the getting worth while.
