Voodoo susceptibility.

Postby Xepshunall » Tue Aug 07, 2012 3:43 pm

I was wondering why a player who casts a defensive voodoo (Mindbar or Countercurse) on himself is affected negatively. For instance, I would like to cast Drums of War and Bless on a fleet but cannot because I am protecting myself from the voodoo of other players.

I have wondered that as well, and also lost several valuable cards by casting on myself and forgetting I had countercurse on.

Is there any way Mindbar and Countercurse can be changed to that they do not block any voodoo I choose to cast on myself?

It would be nice to stop them blocking any beneficial voodoo from anyone but I can see that for a lot of cards the effect will be ambiguous depending on circumstances.

That is a good point. If I had cast Mindbar or Countercurse on an enemy, it would be to stop him from using voodoo on himself. Only when the caster of Mindbar or Countercurse is also the castee, guild mate or one with an alliance, which I don't think the game differentiates at this point, would it be right for self-directed voodoo to overlook the presence of active Countercurse and/or Mindbar.

Tricky question, considering the new strategy you just brought up * takes down some notes* but the usefulness of the strategy is so limited that it only negatively effects the the caster of the Mindbar. I think Capt. Jack has already made this system of self-casting protection from mindbars but it might not cover everything. If not that might be the cost of a mindbar. It is an interesting card depending on how you use and how creative and innovative you are at coming up with new brilliant ways to destroy one or use one to your advantage. I don't think that anything, so far needs to be changed about this card from my own personal opinion.

Mindbar does not count for own curses. It is also mentioned here: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=110

Countercurse issue has been brought before and there is a possibility we will change it in the near future.

I have built a strategy around casing it on an enemy but it creates a problem for me when I try to add Countercurse to that same enemy. I hope this is going to be part of the re-tuning if such an action ever comes to pass.

Well the only tweak on table, is to make YOUR countercurse ignore YOUR curses. Just this.
