While we are at it, have you spent any time checking any of the tutorials? I am just weird to see if people pay attention to them and if they are at all helpful. We are thinking to re-create them ( with a better microphone this time :P ).

Have you had any troubles getting your first ship ? We are also pondering whether or not the starting warehouse will have enough resources for your first ship, so your experience will also help us here.

Have you had time to explore the game, the cards, the ship screens etc ? How controls seem to you ? If we were to talk about learning curve, how much time it took you to understand the basics?

I am keeping what Hawk said, that your problem is common. We will try to brainstorm a solution for all. Perhaps a warning on the shipwright before you build your 2nd ship will be sufficient or when you select to build your first war ship.

--> Yea, I've seen the first one, it was helpful. But otherwise you also find out quickly by trying how the game works. Good job there.

--> No problems with that, but it took time to carry the resources needed to my home port with my first howker. But that's ok. The warehouse has enough capacity a tthe start.

--> I understood the basics pretty quickly, I think it's well built and the ingame help texts are good.

--> Yea, this is what would protect newbs from getting into a dead end. My strategy was common for such games: Make money and then start with a better ship. I bought howkers one after the other, until I had 5. I made money with trade until I had 50k and bought the Sloop of War. And this was the point where I understood the battle mechanics. Now I cannot get back, I have that ship and it will take a hell of a time to upgrade it. I think in this situation many new players would be just disappointed and quit. So yes, a warning would be good, before someone starts to build his first ship above the Sloop/Cutter/Howker level. A warning like: Level 4 Sloop wins over Level 1 Sloop of War. Upgrading Sloop of war is 25k for first, and 50k for second level...
This would help.
