I am not sure if this is a option in the game, or if anyone suggested this before, but I would like to be able to change the time at which I pay the upkeep or that I can pay it manually like ship tax.

Can change only every 3 days. This would give a better defence against Taxation.

Primarily because this has always been a thing since PIrates Glory was first released.

Whilst taxation before upkeep is a strategy that you can produce counter-measures for (Such as Mindbars), whilst this strategy is very rarely used anyway...

My advice to you is stop annoying so many players - That way you would not get any taxations cast upon you.

-1 from me aswell it would destroy card and if mindbar is too expensive I recommend countercurse...

How does it save 3 credits? Am I missing something about how countercurse works?

Also, there is no doubt that being awake during server update can come with several benefits. I have thought about ideas to alter this, but they seem impractical, so I've held my moth shut, as I think a suggestion should be well thought through and have a good chance of working well before it is presented. One idea I had was a rare or legendary card that simply changed the server update time by either plus one hour or minus one hour. Not for one person, but the GLOBAL server update time.

It did not get past my filter, though, and was never suggested. I've just come to terms with the fact that living in the "right" time zones has certain advantages :-)

Last time I checked mindbar was 25 credits and countercurse is 7 3X7=21 moat cases taxation is used couple seconds before the upkeep same as FoJ to get it work and pervent guild clearing it from you so 3 countercurses can mess that strategy.

So I usually don't use them unless I really have to, but its still useless. I think you were never attacked that way before have you?
