The Realism level for this one is around 2:so a bit of embellishment is ok but keep it relatively realistic for the early 18th century I.E no magic, divine intervention, or serious anachronisms annnd also just for the story this time, no SOTLS or large frigates I'll start the Rp either later tonight or tomorrow with the next post. If you have any problems DM me don't post stuff here.

Chaos regns in Avonmora. Britain, upset by the incessant seizing of her natural resources to supply foreign colonies overseas to point of causing starvation and an economic crisis has declared war on France. In the port of Tortuga privateering commissions are being handed out to anyone with a ship capable enough join an expedition to fight the French. Nobody has any idea where they plan to attack, they only know that it's supposed to be a huge undertaking and that the leader promises it to be a profitable venture. Jack Teach, Captain of a 30 gun frigate and two sloops sits in at the largest pub in Tortuga at a desk with a pen and and a sheet of parchment, waiting for any Captains who would interested in joining.

Two men-one very small at around 5 feet, and the other rather normal looking, walks up to him and nods politely. The shorter man speaks first

Hey there. I'm Carl Carlson. Former Spanish navy officer until I was honorably discharged. I got a war galleon that's ready to join in. 32 guns. Slow as molasses though.

The other man smiles as he speaks

Brian Panselo. From Channel Islands. Got a very fast cutter. Good for scouting and delivering messages. No guns, since we tend to either board, or lure folks into following us into my friend's ship here.

Jack smiles and shakes both their hands firmly

Welcome gentlemen. Those sound like good ships.

Jack reaches for his pen

How many men do you gentlemen have under you? I need to register the numbers.

Carl responds

About 300 men. We don't use them all on our ships at once- some stay at our hideout to guard it, and switch places once in a while with the folks crewing the ships.

Jack scratches his clean-shaven chin with a rough hand

And so that would be how many on the ships exactly?

Brian shrugs

Depends on how far we plan to sail. Short trips means we can pack less food and water, and pack on more crew. If we end up needing to sail for a long distance, then sometimes we bring along a howker to use as food and water storage.

But if you're asking for an average, well I would say 150 men on the galleon and 30 on the cutter.

Jack writes down the number

That's good enough information for the records.

He smiles

Now I'd recommend you fellows relax for awhile. It's gonna be a hard one. We'll wait a bit and see if anyone else wants to join the venture so come back in three days and I'll tell you gentleman where we'll be going. Can't tell you yet I'm afraid. Too afraid of it getting out, even if it's nigh impossible.

the 2 men nod and leave, Brian says to Carl as they walk out the door

Let's go make sure our ships are stocked and then just rest at the inn for a while.

Three days elapse and a few more captains have signed on, one schooner, on war-brig, and brigantine. Jack and the other Captains wait in a back room. The barman points it out to Carl and Brian when they arrive.
