Welcome, Pirates Glory community, to Pirates Glory Updates and News #27! In the last edition we talked about Bermuda and the USA wrapping up their war and calling a peace treaty. In this edition we will be talking about the most recent events including a new bank with a very reassuring name, the start up of fantasy draft VIII and a seemingly unprovoked war between the new nations of Liechtenstein and Liberia. Fantasy draft VIII

What is a fantasy draft? Here’s a basic description:
Every six months, a fantasy draft is held. 5 “captains” are chosen to lead the draft. Each captain then picks 10 players to be on their team, 1 player each round for a total of 10 rounds. Community members can choose to donate gold coins, credits and ships to a pool or specify to whom it is distributed. Millions even billions in prizes have been awarded in the past. A theme is chosen (for instance: battles, trading etc.)
The 5 Captains write a tale of their crew and their strengths and why their team should win. Players vote on the team they believe to be the winner of that theme. There are many prizes including Rookie of the draft. The donations in the pool are handed out accordingly after the draft and can be a huge boost to a player’s game.
This draft’s theme is “Port Takeover and Control”. This differs from the usual “Overall Team” theme. This means that players will be selected based on their ability to take over and control ports, and the teams will be voted on respectively.
The captains picked for this draft are:

Kim Jong Un
Zephore
William Pitt
Anne Bonny

At the time of this writing, the draft is still in progress and the first of the players have been picked.

The reign of Liberia

Ac’k Kwomfwo sailed into Avonmora on day 2967, donning just a sword and a banner with the words “Liberia forever!”. He soon began climbing up through the ranks, done at a rate that made most people question their sanity. Less than two weeks later, Kwomfwo was named as the rightful king of Liberia and thus began his iron-fist rule.
His first order of business on the throne was to declare war on Isle of Man, a decision that many called “a poor choice”. His second order of business was to outlaw the consumption of all cheese-covered balls of processed corn. Soon there were flyers in taverns all across Avonmora trying to recruit willing troops to help in the war and “create change in Avonmora”. The dukes of IoM reportedly did not seem worried about a war with Liberia. The queen herself made no comment.
The secondary war
Around the same time that Kwomfwo was ranking up, DezNutz was pursuing the crown in his own nation of Liechtenstein. Although Kwomfwo had become king sooner, DezNutz ranked up in only half the amount of time. As king, he sprinkled his throne with powdered cheese, announced that his name was “King Eric” and then declared war on Liberia and every nation which allied with them. So we decided to ask King Eric about it.
Q: Can you tell us a little bit about your country, Liechtenstein?
A: Liechtenstein is a very small nation. We have more businesses than people, but a strong economic front for a nation of our size. Even with that strong economic front we are still dependent on other nations for critical resources. I, King Eric, take much pride in my people and their entrepreneurial spirit. Our greatest accomplishment as a nation is the courage to stand up to our oppressors and their allies. The War with Libera and her Allies continues. We have sprung forth a grassroots movement amongst the native population of the ports. These Hostile Natives have begun to take the fight to Liberia and her Allies on our behalf.
Q: How about your resources and economy? How are they doing?
A: As I stated before, Liechtenstein must import many critical resources. Liberia's war declaration against the Isle of Man has put a strain on the supply of one of our most critically needed resources. The Cheesy Poof. It's poofiness and cheesiness is incomparable to all other poofs and is the highest quality. The need for this critical resource is of the utmost importance. Oh, cheesy poof! How I need you! ..... I'm sorry. We have had to ration the supplies we have as the supply chain is very limited.
Q: Do you have a strategic battle plan?
A: King Eric does not comment on battle tactics. All the enemy needs to know is that I will continue and escalate as needed until Liberia surrenders and ends its war with our primary Cheesy Poof supplier.
Q: How do you see the war ending?
A: I see this ending with me swimming in a great pool of Cheesy Poofs.
Q: Is there anything you’d like to say to Ac’k Kwomfwo
A: To Ac'k, King Eric only has this message. If there is a troll circling the castle gate, it is best not to feed it. And one more thing. Cheesy Poofs, Cheesy Poofs, I love Cheesy Poofs. If you don't love Cheesy Poofs you are LAAAMMMME.

Q: As King of Liberia, can you tell us a little about Liberia? What makes you most proud of?
What is your nation's greatest achievement?
A: Liberia is the greatest nation. There are not many pirates that are part of this nation but that is ok. I am proud of Liberia's influence around Avonmora, as it is in the top 10 nations. Liberia's greatest achievement hasn't happened yet but it will soon.
Q: Would you mind giving Avonmora an update of the status of the Declaration of War with Liechtenstein?
A: I'm not sure why Liechtenstein declared war against us. I was at war with IoM, and then Liechtenstein declared war against Liberia and all of its allies.
Q: What is your motivation behind the war with Isle of Man?
A: My motivation behind the war with IoM was really for no reason. I wanted to stir the pot of Avonmora. Liechtenstein declared war against me so now I have to defeat both of them.
Q: Any insights into your battle plan you'd like to share?
A: Nobody knows my battle plan right now and I think I want to keep it that way.
Q: How do you see it ending?
A: I see it ending with DezNutz losing, leaving Liechtenstein, and joining Liberia and then we will take on IoM and defeat them. I also think that some other people might have the heart to join Liberia.
Q: Anything you want to say to King Eric?
A: And there's nothing I need to say to king Eric.

A new bank in the business

Tired of having her money stolen by shady bankers, Soleil decided to build a bank. She opened it to the public under the name We Will Steal Your Money Bank, and then stood atop the highest hill in Vaasburg and promptly yelled “My bank is open for business!” before tripping over a root and falling all the way down. She recovered within seconds, announcing that its capacity is 2,500,000 gold coins and charges average transaction fees. So what makes this bank special? Trying to find the answer to that question, I went and asked Soleil herself.
Q: What is different about your bank from other banks?
A: Fundamentally, nothing I suppose. All banks here operate under the same mechanics, after all. Public banks all operate for one of a few reasons, too, whether it be to protect your gold from theft by pirates, to make money from loans, or a combination thereof. That only leaves a couple of variables- owner and branding.
The banker is a large factor. People are far less likely to bank with a troll when there's an established, respected player at the same level.
Regarding branding, there's a wide spectrum of banks. Some, like Lehman Stearns and Lodonian S&L, are very professional, while others, like No Soup For You Bank or Stick It, take it a bit less seriously. As for We Will Steal Your Money Bank? I think the name says it all. We're simply a trustworthy, serious institution here for the sole purpose of keeping your gold safe from theft.
Q: Since your bank is still new and low level and people have access to "better" banks, why should clients choose your bank over the other options?
A: Well, we're simply the most secure and personal option out there. Sure, bigger banks offer bigger accounts and lower turn costs, but there are some things they miss that I feel any discerning client values more.
One, security. This is the obvious one. Since a banker can freeze your account at any time, you're putting your gold in someone else's hands. When you store your money at WWSYM, you can rest easy at night knowing your gold is right where you left it: in our high-security anti-theft vaults. The peace of mind provided here is something you can't just upgrade to.
Secondly, being personal. Ask any big banker out there and I'd bet you three barrels of Panian rum they couldn't tell you half of their clients. The fact is that it's impractical (some would even say "completely unnecessary") to know that information when you've got hundreds of clients. I, on the other hand, know each and every one of my depositors. I can work directly with them to create a personal account designed around what anti-theft measures are right for them.
Lastly, presentation. It's what separates a bank from a super bank. WWSYM is distinct and new- I'd bet another 3 barrels of rum you won't find any bank like it.
Q: The name "We Will Steal Your Money Bank" doesn't exactly give people confidence that depositing money is the right choice. Why can they trust you to keep their money safe?
A: I'm not sure what you mean to imply- WWSYM is a very trustworthy institution by any standard. I'm not sure what about the name would suggest anything contrary, either.
If you can't trust our bank to keep your money safe, how could you trust any other? No one takes the threat of theft as seriously as us, so no one can protect your gold as well as us.
Q: What are your plans for the future of this bank?
A: I think that should be fairly obvious- we plan to grow. I'd like to expand our vaults at a rate that still allows us to maintain our core principles of security and personalization. Some may call it unrealistic- impossible, even- but I'll continue to work towards that goal at We Will Steal Your Money Bank until I see this for myself.
