Carl nods

Alright. Still Dreadbolt might try something. Bugger needs to just run off back to his ship. I'll bring along the cannon Dreadbolt brought so we can blow down the door to the fort if they try anything just in case. I'll use the other armed with grapeshot so your men can use it if Dreadbolt tries to free the commandant. That will also alert us that his men are trying something and we can rush over to fight.

Jack nods

Good idea.

He has the canon placed in front of the courthouse with some grapeshot. As they approach the fort a colonel in a spotless uniform steps out and offers his sword to Jack. Jack takes it.

How many men have you got in this place?

The colonel says

Just 10.

Jack says

Take them to the courthouse.

The soldiers are placed in the courthouse with the rest. Jack enters the fort by climbing the stairs and leaves 20 men to operate the guns. Jack watches as the men load the 36 pounder long guns and run them out. They raise English colors on the flagpole. Jack barks

Aim for their masts.

The the fort unleashes a massive broadside. The ground seems to shake. They fire for ten minutes, soon the brig and the frigate have no masts. Jack looks through his spyglass and sees the sailors waving white garments in the air, indicating there surrender. Jack calls to carl

They can't possibly attack us from the sea by now. Let's go on and destroy their shipyard.

Dreadbolt sits in the tavern, scraping a whetstone down his spike. a mug of rum sits on the table, untouched, along with a map of Baramas. He holds the wicked steel attachment up to the light, admiring it. The edges were keen and the point razor sharp. He looked at the map, deep in thought.

I'll take some men to destroy the ships, and then I suggest we steal a big one so long as it's sail worthy to go meet up with Brian and to carry off some loot.

Carl rounds up his men and heads off.

Jack takes some men and they knock on the governors door. He calls out from his office, frightened, telling them that the loot is stored up at the bank in a large vault.

"Can't miss it!"

Jack and his men march into the bank, knock the lock off the vault, enter the vault, and take out about good sized 30 barrels, each filled to brim with gold, and 5 filled with silver. These they carry to a set of 2 commandeered brigs. Jack and his men also raid the armory and carry off cannons, muskets, pistols, and powder. A small prize crew is put on the brigs and they sail away to the area where the fleet is rested. It'll take them five hours to get there. It is currently around 11:00 at night, and everyone is very tired. So tired in fact that the guard fails to notice the commandant slipping out of the building, wearing the clothes of the man who was sent by the townsfolk to bring food to the soldiers. He enters into the tavern and sits next to dreadbolt. He calls for wine and says

Just a moment. I need to rest a second. Then we'll talk about what we're going to do.

At around 1200 AM in the morning Brian can see lights on the sea, several miles away from him. They're coming from Kanoni

Brian see's this and sighs, calling to his men.

Dim all the lights, they shouldn't see us if we keep things dark and quiet. Just to be safe, a few of you come with me. We'll form a skeleton crew, sail a good distance from our ships and just sail nearby with some lights on heading to Kanoni. If they approach us leave the talking to me.

several men go with him as they sail away from their ships. Once a good distance away Brian patiently waits. as he begins sailing towards Kanoni towards them, making sure his cutter has enough light to be visible.

Using his spike, he pushes the mug of rum towards the Commandant, then reaches into his pocket, pulling an odd, flintlock shaped device from his coat pocket, as well as a cigar. He used the object to light the cigar before asking the commandant a question.

"Do you smoke, Commandant?"

The commandant shakes his head

No. I don't like the smell. But go ahead

the waitress brings him his wine. He takes a drink

Now to business. Reinforcements are coming from kanoni. 1,000 men. If they manage to get here, we might be able to turn this around. Otherwise I rather doubt our abilities to win this fight and you'll have to go. We have to make sure the ships don't go into the harbor. The privateers no doubt have control of the fort by now, if the fleet comes in the harbor it'll be battered to such a degree that they'll have to just surrender. We have to warn the fleet and tell them to come in by boat, by rowboat, to be exact. Hopefully they'll be smart enough to figure that out, but they might not be. Even if we get them onshore the fight is going to be horrendous.

As Brian's ship approaches the lights he sees three flag galleons, moving quite slowly but bristling with cannon. The darks are swarmed with soldiers. From their direction, it looks as if they'll arrive in Baramas at around 3:00 tommorrow. They don't seem to notice the little ship.

If my frigate wasn't over a week's march away, i'd escort the fleet myself- alas, it is. So we need to distract them long enough for the fleet to arrive- but how?

Brian thinks for a moment before He orders some men to fill a barrel with gunpowder and make a quick makeshift mine which they toss into the path of one of the ships before sailing away.

Maybe if we can get one of them to chase us, and damage another, that might take 2 out of commission. If nothing else, we tried. Once the explosion goes off, we need to sail away-making sure they see us after we start running I'll use a flare if need be. Maybe they will take the bait, but if not at least they won't find the other ships. Then we double back later.

He stands by to watch the ships sail into the floating battel, with a long fuse running down. He hopes he timed it right, if nothing else, should scare them. He rubs his chin as he orders his men to take small bags of gunpowder with fuses to ignite them while tossing them over board

Make them think some ship is firing at them in the dark. We gotta do what we can mates. Which isn't a lot, so we gotta rely on deception to make them think it's worse then it really is.
