Carl has his best archers take up the bows and begin preparing them for the assault. The best fighters he assigns to go with the flanking team Carl being one of them, the rest join the main force.

The French, sensing that the assault is near, get themselves into formation, placing half in the main body and half in the flank. The militiamen are mixed in with the soldiers. Jack and his men prepare themselves. Soon it becomes very dark outside, and the main body of 515 men advances out of the trees, jack leading from the front, still out of range of musket fire. The Commandant looks uneasily at the men, trying to see how many of them there are. Captain Hornigold, with a sword in one hand a pistol in the other says to the flanking sailors.

Ready lads? Forward!

Hornigold leads the flanking sailors silently onward through the trees in a loose formation towards the French who can just barely see them. Each man carries assorted close range weapons and a musket. When hornigold sees that the French are prepared for them he says:

Get in a battle line. Carl, work your magic.

As Jack’s men near the main body of enemies the front drops to it’s knees without orders and the men on their knees and those behind them open fire. The two sides begin to trade musket fire and the night soon becomes bright with gunfire.

Carl's archers have 3 groups- the 1st fires arrows with flasks of oil attached-killing a few and dousing other's with the oil, the 2nd fires bags of gunpowder tied to arrows, then the third group fires flaming arrows, and flames and small explosions quickly spread throughout the enemy ranks. Carl then shouts in his loudest most intimidating voice

Those who flee will be spared- those who are captured will be skinned alive, chopped to pieces and mounted on our ships.

The militiamen immediately panic along with a few of the normal soldiers and quickly begin fleeing.

The 9-pounder one the flanked side goes off, unleashing a terrible rain of grapeshot and shrapnel- and then the same on the main line. And the Dreadbolt is on them, ramming into the side of the flank like a raging bull, his steel spike striking out at those on his right and his sword flashing with cruel, militant efficiency on the left, cutting men down like wheat in a field. The men defending the flank charged, using the bodies as shields and then simply as dead weight, tossing them onto the attackers and then stabbing those unlucky enough to get pinned beneath the corpses.

The main forces keep firing at one another, unleashing devastating musket fire on one another. Jack raises up his sword and they all charge the French ranks. A vicious melee ensues as men batter each other with their muskets. The privateers are more experienced than the French regulars with melee and soon begin to gain the upper hand. Some switch to sword and pistol and begin hack and their shoot their way though the fight. The Frenchman’s numbers begin to dwindle below that of the buccaneers. Jack swings his sword in hard and fast strokes, fighting as best as he can. A Frenchman runs forward and thrusts his bayonet at Jack’s torso. Jack just manages to grab his gun just before the blade can enter his body and kills him with a sword blow to chest. On the flanks Jack’s men put up a ferocious fight and begin to swing their rifles like clubs. Some swing so hard that they break the locks of their guns. Many still have bayonets and use these to great effect, killing several of dreadbolt’s men. The thrown bodies begin to do very little as the men simply move back every time one is thrown. The French troops on the flank charge the flank with bayonets but can’t do much good, many are weary of the threats and consider retreating. Hornigold aims a pistol at Dreadbolt’s head and fires, missing by an inch before thrusting his sword at his ribs.

The archers stop firing, and take up melee weapons and begin charging forward, Carl leading them as they cut a path between the flank and the main force, before splitting into 2 groups, one half pressing the attack on the main force the other charging into Dreadbolt's forces from behind. Carl shouts once more as he begins slashing his way forward

Those who want to live drop your weapons and flee, or die for a meager payday. We'll slaughter you all!

Dreadbolt catches the blade on his spike before breaking Hornigold's sword and thrusting his cutlass between Hornigold's ribs. His remaining men take the gunpowder meant for the long nines and stick fuses into it, tossing it into the main body of the privateers.

Carl quickly reaches into his pocket and shatters a vial of water into the gunpowder-many of his men doing the same, ruining it, helping keep the damage minimal. His men then take their swords and do a heavy push forward, killing many more of the men. Carl looks around before spotting what looks to be a French officer, who he quickly attacks, and after a nasty sword fight where Carl get's a nasty gash on his chest he beheads the officer, and quickly tosses the head far into the enemy ranks shouting with as much fury and rage he can muster

Final chance, drop your weapons, run and live, or die like he did. No mercy, no prisoners, all who fight back will die this day! The more men we lose the more loot we take from the port, from your family, from your homes.

More and more men begin to desert, dropping their weapons and running. Carl and his men quickly begin focusing more on Dreadbolts. Carl shouts taunting

You know you cost me my ship. I'll probably trade yours for a new war galleon. Yours's is a bit too gaudy for my tastes.

Hornigold falls over dead. Everyone quickly moves away from the slowly burning gunpowder, both privateer and frenchman. The powder explodes and kills only about 10 men. The two sides run back at each other and a melee even more chaotic than the last ensues. The privateers begin wining more, less and less of them die. Cutlasses flash and men fall. Jack looks around surprised that everything is going so well. He looks to the harbor and his jaw drops.

Oh...

From the ships blockading the harbor longboats are pulling ashore, a good percentage of the men onboard are french royal marines. Jack shoots a charging soldier in the chest with a pistol and then looks through a spyglass. Jack has a crewman tell Carl before leaping into the fray with his sword:

Be aware: There's 80 men in longboats coming ashore.
