Jack pulls out a short clay pipe out of his scarlet coat pocket

Don't know. It'll be a lot though.

Jack strikes a match against his leg, lights the pipe, and begins to smoke

Dreadbolt grunts, standing up. He pulls out a cigar, lighting a match on his right hand- or rather, his spike. Indeed, a wicked steel spike stabbed out from the stump of his right arm, covered in little barbs of metal. He lights the cigar before snuffing out the match and leaving the tavern, his two guards following him.

Brian and Carl quickly load up there ship with extra food, water, and clothes. Brian shouts some orders to the men

Make sure to pack some crossbows and bolts, in case we need to stealth a bit. But bring gunpowder too. Keep it sealed nice and tight.

Spanish colors and the current signal-books used by ships of most nations (captured from a small French privateer several months ago-good for another eight months) are sent to the Captain's of each vessel. Each Captain is asked to fly the Spanish colors upon leaving the port as the Spaniards are entirely neutral during this war.

The grand black frigate pushes off the dock, oars extending from small holes just below her gunports. They rose and fell like great black wings, one bank going forward and the other backwards to aid in the vessel's turning. As it came about, her sails unfurled. They were a dark crimson, adorned with an unusual symbol: A hexagon, with a bolt extending downwards. Taken together, the effect was like a crude skull. Beneath it was a pair of crossed scythes. As it sailed back to the sea, the black flag descended from the mainmast, replaced by a Spanish flag- though on such an easily recognizable vessel, it wasn't much of a disguise.

The ships sail for several days with fair winds and blue skies, little to nothing happening. Aboard Jack's men sharpen swords and clean firearms. Jack stands on the quarterdeck, inspecting some of the muskets he bought for the attack. He takes one, loads it, aims it at a seagull sitting atop the nearest yardarm, and picks off the bird with a loud crack. He nods with satisfaction and hands the gun to a sailor who takes it belowdecks. They also practice their gunnery (without firing) along the way. Near the end of the trip they can ready the guns in just under 3 minutes. Several days later, the lockout calls out that he sites land. Jack and his comrade's ships stop a off shore. They begin loading into rowboats with their weapons and supplies and row to shore.

Carl and Brian sail on their ships, mostly doing fishing on the way there which they use over their stored provisions. Once there, they embark and meet up with Jack. Carl nods to the ships

We gonna leave any men behind to watch them? Or should we stash them in a secure place nearby?

Jack pulls out his pipe and puts it his mouth.

That won't be necessary. We're a good ways from where any large warships will likely see us, because though the water is deep, warships don't often patrol here anyway nor do they come here ever.

Jack lights the pipe and begins to smoke, crushing the lighted match into the sand with a buckled shoe

There's almost no good source of water in the jungle, nor are there any good sources of food either. The wood's all gnarly or too thin to be used for repairs.

Jack suddenly looks uneasy

We should be fine.

Each of jack's men is handed a musket, a pack with provisions, a small flask of rum, and a leather canteen filled with water. Two donkeys are also loaded up with extra weapons and supplies and each man carries his own personal sword and pistols.
