Jack pulls a piece of parchment out of his pocket, writes down the number and puts it away.
Right, now that we're all here I'll tell you where we'll all be going and what the plan is.
He gestures to three men sitting around the table. All of them are in their early to mid thirties, and dressed in simple Captain's clothes. Each wears a sword at his side. They stand up and shake the three men's hands. They introduce themselves as Captain Hornigold, Captain Roberts, and Captain Tew.
Jack points at the map at Baramas.
Baramas is where we'll be going lads. The basic fact is that right now, in naval terms, the balance of power between France and England is about equal. The English have about 10 heavy frigates and and the French have around 11, and each has about four ships of the line in the waters around Avonmora. However good evidence has been obtained from a French friend of mine that the French have the resources at Baramas to build very powerful fleet of ships which would seriously compromise the British holdings in Avonmora. They plan on building at least 10 more frigates of the very heavy variety, and four ships of the line in Baramas. If they manage to do this they'll be able to dominate the waters from Baramas to Thorakas. All the ports are in that list with the exception of Baramas are the main British ports in Avonmora. Their building ships at other places but for now this is the most crucial target. They've also been stocking up gold at that port with which to bribe mercenaries and pirates so that they'll harass English shipping, which is already so greatly harassed. The navy, as much as they would like to because of the immense prize money which could be obtained, cannot attack Baramas as their too busy defending the English Channel which is where the main battleground of this war is. Now....
Jack lays a knife on the table
The defenses which the French have amassed there are impressive but we should able to crack them. They're not as strong they should be as they've blockaded the port and didn't let anyone in or out either by sea or by land except those who brought supplies to the city. We've reason to believe they've done this with every port. Fortunately for us Jacques managed to get a relatively accurate reading of the French defenses. They have around 1,000 soldiers garrisoned in the port. The local militia is about 200 men..
Jack rocks the knife back and forth
...poorly equipped and poorly trained so they might as well not even be listed. They'll probably run. The port is blockaded by two frigates and one brig. Now we could take those ships easily but that mode of attack is impossible. They have a fort that's simply too high up for our guns to reach, with 20 big guns and we'd all die if we tried to bombard the port so we'll not be attacking that way.
Jack points the knife at an area on the map about 80 miles away from the port of Baramas.
The plan is fairly simple. We get to this location, get off our ships, and march our 1,180 men through the jungle and attack the place in the dead of night. We'll sneak in at around 2AM in the morning and take the fort, where the garrison is held, by storm. The ships will almost certainly run as we have control of the fort and can easily destroy their vessels from it. After the men are subdued we'll first destroy the ships they're building, seize as much arms and ammunition we can, and take as much of their military's provisions as we can, and then we'll take the gold they've been storing up their as well.
Jack's face becomes grave
This might sound simple to a certain degree, but I assure you all it will be very very difficult. I've spent some time in the jungles around Baramas before. They're quite unpleasant, and the soldiers are well-trained and will put up an enormously good fight. Now, any questions?
