We have watched the sad fiscal oppression of our Canadian comrades, made hostage to the greed and avarice of a tyranical ruler : and so, we, the proud and noble nation of Bahrain (pop 9), famed for its low taxes, sandy beaches and.. well, sand , mainly.. is honoured to offer safe haven to any cruelly oppressed Canuck seeking to escape the current despot what ruleth them.

Current taxes are 50g for peasants, camel-jockeys and dung-collectors : military and nobles (inc barbers, chefs and itinerant musicians) are asked for the paltry sum of 100g per ship.

You know it makes sense, so shake off your chains and come and don the head-rag of freedom!

I have a bit of concern for 'dead countries' like for example Zimbabwe. Previous ruler set such ridiculous tax and left the country (is now a pirate, long story short). Now there's no council member to change it. Actually there's no even a noble class. Can the tax reset over time?

I dont think so : but its probably one for an admin to confirm : if not, I think its something that should be addressed : something simple like when the last council member leaves (and thus there is no internal means to change anything) the tax rates reset to a standard default level : this would allow others to then join, climb the ranks and enter the council.

About the whole Canada issue, Brazzler make sure you change that tax rate back. I really don't blame dead countries' kings to send payments to random people. When i was king there was literally no active people in canada really just me and brazzler at the end, no one posts in the forums and who knows who is active or not. If people in smaller countries wish to stay in smaller countries for some sort of reason and you have a king in that country make your presence is known, at least post in the country forum send a pm whatever. Also i would agree that there should be some sort of revision system in place for already ratified laws, every say 6 months (from the time it was passed) the law must be passed again otherwise it resets to default values. This would help any new comers who without any knowledge of the game join one of these "dead countries" with ridiculous taxes, instead of having to lose all their money and turn pirate (which may cause them to not want to continue playing) they can afford to stay.
