I doubt that would be easy, but that's not the point. The point is that's not what's happening. What's happening is that the port price is increased by 3%, no matter what I bought the crates for. So "profit" is never calculated. The help text is wrong. Profit is not increased by 10%. Port prices are increased by 3%. That is not the same.

Thank you, Cutpurse. Seeing this changelog entry, it seems obvious what has happened. Before December 20 2018, ports controlled by the Duke's nation paid 2% more for gold bars and 10% more for other goods. After this date, these bonuses were reduced to 1% for gold bars, and 3% for other goods.

The "help" text was never changed, and has always (wrongly) stated that "profit" was increased by 2% for gold bars and 10% for other goods. This was never a good text, as the term "profit" was used wrongly. This text needs to change, to explain the actual bonuses the Duke gets. The term "profit" should be avoided, and the text should explain that ports pay 1% more for gold bars and 3% more for other goods in ports controlled by the Duke's nation.
